What is Fresh Focus’s Encapsulation Process?

Have you heard of encapsulation cleaning for carpet but didn’t know exactly what it is? Encapsulation cleaning is a method of cleaning where a solution is applied to the carpet and then worked deep into the carpet. The solution then absorbs and crystalizes around dirt so that it can be easily vacuumed away.

This method of cleaning is popular for carpet that receives a high volume of traffic because there is no need for shampoo or lengthy drying time. Depending on the size of the area, carpet can often be cleaned and back in use within an hour or less.

Extend the Life of Your Carpet

In addition to encapping being a fast, effective way of cleaning, it has added benefits to your carpet. The results of this type of cleaning process can be outstanding. Because the encap solution emulsifies oils, fats, and starches that typically bind to carpet fibers, soils are brought to the surface of the carpet and vacuumed away giving the carpet a cleaning that isn’t possible with other traditional methods. Because many encapping solutions use crushed silica, they also give carpet an instant brightness.

Resoiling is another issue that is common with traditional methods of carpet cleaning that doesn’t happen with encapsulation cleaning. Wet methods of carpet cleaning push soil to the bottom of the carpet, and although the carpet appears to be clean, as the carpet dries, the soil travels up the carpet fibers making the stains reappear. This is called resoiling. Because this doesn’t happen, and because encapping makes it more difficult for dirt to attach to the carpet fibers after cleaning, encapsulation cleaning often allows facilities to prolong the time between cleanings.

Our Encapsulation Process

While all encapsulation cleaning is similar, each company typically has a process that is just a little bit different. At Fresh Foam you can expect our encapsulation cleaning process to include the following steps:

  • Pre-Vacuum – Carpets will be vacuumed to remove fine dust and particles. This will prepare the carpet for the encapsulation cleaning process. Prevacuuming should always take place before encapsulation cleaning begins.
  • Pretreatment of Stains – Our trained and IICRC-certified technicians will evaluate your carpet and select the chemicals needed to treat and remove even the most stubborn stains. While this step isn’t always necessary, carpets with significant spots and stains will require pretreatment.
  • Encapsulation – An encapsulation solution will be applied and worked into the carpet. The solution will bind to the soil, encapsulate it, and dry into a hardened crystal that will then be removed by regular vacuuming.

At Fresh Focus, we evaluate the exact fibers, stain types, and manufacturer specifications of your property’s carpet to determine which methods will work best for each carpet. Encapsulation cleaning is faster and provides a deeper clean than vacuuming but uses less water than traditional steam cleaning. Our encapsulation process extends the lifecycle and appearance of your carpets while bridging the gap between daily vacuum maintenance and more expensive steam extraction carpet cleaning
